Official Veterinarian Job Description The Veterinary Affairs Directorate (DAVI) of the DGAV is the cantonal authority responsible for federal and Vaud veterinary matters. Its Animal Health sector is in charge of monitoring animal health throughout the cantonal territory, coordinating programs for fighting and monitoring epizootics, and supervising animal traceability. In this context, the sector is recruiting an official veterinarian to provide a replacement within its team. Responsibilities Implement the sanitary measures ordered in the fight against epizootics. Participate in epidemiological investigations and fieldwork during outbreaks. Ensure compliance with related restrictions and conduct on-site inspections. Instruct procedures related to animal health and draft decisions, notices, and correspondence. Prepare and monitor criminal files until their closure. Collaborate with judicial authorities and in the processing of cases assigned to veterinarians and maintain contacts with network partners. Contribute to the development of guidelines and procedures and participate in cantonal and federal working groups in the veterinary field. Requirements: University degree in veterinary medicine required; a capacity for official veterinarian status can be acquired after engagement. Minimum 2 years of private veterinary experience, animal health, or industry, and 5 years of experience in a public veterinary service (cantonal and/or federal service). Driving license and private vehicle available for professional travel. Excellent command of spoken and written French, as well as good knowledge of spoken and written German necessary. Proficiency in standard office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Rigor, sense of management, and effective priority handling with time flexibility and good stress resistance. Strong public service orientation, client service skills, and ease with professional partners and the general public. Open-mindedness and strong professional commitment.
