Attached to the Directorate of Security, Justice and Sport, the Fribourg Cantonal Police has the general mission of ensuring public safety, maintaining order and enforcing laws.
It serves the population and the authorities. This is reflected 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by the fulfilment of a large number of varied and demanding tasks: emergency interventions, offence reports, crime prevention, investigations, etc. The increasingly important role of the police in managing social problems requires tact and expertise from officers.
It is also responsible for ensuring road traffic safety. It provides security support to organisers of public events and assists cantonal and municipal authorities during serious incidents.
The Fribourg Cantonal Police is composed of two main bodies, the gendarmerie and the security police, and three divisions: command, logistics and IT, human resources and training.

- Define and ensure, within your competences, the operational and organisational management of the gendarmerie corps
- Supervise and lead your General Staff, while coordinating and prioritising the objectives and efforts of subordinate units
- Promote a culture of trust, responsibility and subsidiarity within the gendarmerie
- Take all measures and decisions necessary to ensure the execution of the mission entrusted by the Cantonal Police law and legislation
- Cooperate with the security police and the divisions of the cantonal police as well as various partner services
- Represent the Fribourg cantonal police in various working groups at cantonal, national or international level
- Establish the corps budget and propose the acquisition of new technical resources
- Ensure the updating of staff knowledge in terms of tactics
- Ensure, as a representative of the General Staff, on-call services as a cantonal police officer
- You hold the federal police certificate and/or a degree issued by a university of applied sciences with the CAS CEP training provided by the Swiss Police Institute and/or are a graduate of a university, a university of applied sciences or have completed equivalent training
- You are of Swiss nationality
- You have proven managerial, social and organisational skills as well as experience in project management and in a leadership role
- You are recognised for your ability to empower your staff, encourage initiative and develop a climate of trust
- You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as an officer
- You have a strong interest in security-related fields
- You demonstrate great availability, stress resistance and autonomy in your work
- You master the German or French language with very good knowledge of the partner language
