The Judiciary is the third branch of the State and brings together all the judicial authorities of the canton. Separate from the legislative and executive powers, it fulfils its mission independently, has its own administration, and an autonomous employer.
Head of Chancellery at the General Secretariat 100% [Class 25]
Your mission
Reporting to the Secretary General of the Judiciary, your main tasks are to ensure, with your team, the optimal functioning of the governance and management bodies of the judiciary, ensuring that the chancellery of the general secretariat provides them with high-level organisational, administrative, logistical, and editorial support. You plan, organise, and prepare the activities of these bodies and attend their meetings alternately with your deputy. You analyse incoming and outgoing correspondence, documents, and files, identify the issues and the internal or external contributors responsible for handling them, prepare or have prepared draft responses or reports, and ensure the dissemination and implementation of decisions made. You ensure the quality of the documentation provided to the governance and management bodies, as well as the minutes. You guarantee rigorous document management.
You establish and maintain reliable and smooth relations with the services of the Council of State, the Grand Council, departments, offices or services of the cantonal administration, or other federal and cantonal administrations and authorities, as well as with other partners who collaborate continuously with the Judiciary and its courts. You supervise internal procedures within the Judiciary to ensure the proper organisation of judicial elections, in close consultation with the services of the Grand Council and the voting and elections service.
You personally manage any file or subject entrusted by the Secretary General and contribute to cross-cutting projects related to the chancellery's activities.
You oversee the preparation of institutional events organised by the Judiciary.
You supervise the members of the chancellery, composed of a deputy head of chancellery and three collaborators, ensure consistency of practices, and work towards the continuous improvement of service quality.
Your profile
You hold a university degree (master’s level), ideally complemented by training in public administration management or a related field. You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position, in a public administration, an autonomous institution, or a private structure, serving a governance body, a general management, or a headquarters. You have experience in close supervision of a small team of collaborators.
You possess strong analytical and synthesis skills. You anticipate with ease, manage priorities, and know how to react and adapt flexibly to necessary changes. You handle multiple tasks simultaneously with ease and enjoy adapting to change and unforeseen events. You attach great importance to rigour and precision. You write fluently and have a good knowledge of Geneva and Swiss public institutions, as well as parliamentary processes. Finally, you have a strong sense of service to the public, both internal and external.
Knowledge of German and English is an advantage.
