Head of the Sanitation Division Job Description Within the General Directorate of the Environment (DGE), the Directorate of Industrial, Urban and Rural Environment (DGE-DIREV) is responsible for protecting the environment from pollution and nuisances caused by activities. As the head of the Sanitation Division, you lead a dynamic and motivated team of about twenty people engaged in environmental protection, particularly in the areas of managing polluted sites, special waste, chemical and biological safety, and water protection in connection with industrial and artisanal activities. In direct contact with the Vaud economic fabric, the academic environment, and local authorities, you implement public policies within the division's area of expertise. You bring a proven experience in managing particularly complex or sensitive cases. Among the management tasks of the division, you also develop the network with public authorities and various partners at the regional and national levels. As part of your duties, you manage the human resources and budget for the division, conduct its cross-cutting activities, and contribute to the missions of the DIREV. In this very varied role, you provide periodic reporting to management on the quality and efficiency of the division, and you have the managerial skills needed to face numerous challenges, both technical and strategic. Benefiting from a solid background in environmental protection, water, and waste management, you will be able to grow and develop your expertise in numerous areas. In direct contact with different institutional levels (municipalities, cantons, and political authorities), you actively contribute to the protection of the natural environment of our Canton. Responsibilities Lead the Sanitation Division of the DGE-DIREV Direct the division to ensure efficient access to services for all concerned citizens Coordinate the division's activities and ensure cross-functionality and collaboration with internal and external entities of the DGE Organize and plan the division's tasks, deadlines, and manage the budget Contribute to the missions of the DIREV and ensure follow-up on priority cases For more details, please refer to the job specifications. Postgraduate training in a field related to the function Professional experience in the environmental field(s) related to the position of at least 5 years, including 3 years of managerial experience in the private or public sector (engineering offices, public administration, etc.). Excellent command of French and professional writing skills. Strong editorial skills, synthesis ability, leadership, and aptitudes for management. Sense of responsibility and commitment. Very good capacity for time management. In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and procedures in the relevant areas, as well as a good command of spoken and written German.
