JOB PURPOSE
Aiglon College is an international boarding school based in the Swiss Alps with a worldwide reputation for providing a challenging holistic education in an inspiring setting within a safe, caring and supportive framework. The Summer Camp caters for over 500 students each summer aged 8-16 years old representing over 45 nations.
Summer Camp staff are expected to make a significant contribution to the ethos of Aiglon and the Summer Camp. The expectation is that staff will be positive and contribute enthusiastically to the work and life of the Summer Camp, creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.

MORNING COURSE LEADER/ACTIVITY SUPERVISOR

A role to combine classroom teaching and students activities external to the classroom:
Prepare for and lead a morning course class for typically 12 students, including marking and recording of work done.
Review and update the morning course scheme of work with the Head of Morning Courses. Where a new course is being designed, assist in the creation of lesson plans before the start of Summer Camp.
Contribute towards an end-of-course report for each student in the class.
Awarding merit/demerit points during the programmes.
Supervise an afternoon duty as directed by the Summer Camp Director. This duty will normally be based in the Summer Camp office, acting as a point of contact for the afternoon activity programme or managing the office/telephone on behalf of the administration staff.
Accompany an activity group to programmed sessions during the Summer Camp. This will take into consideration the amount of classroom teaching the role also requires.
Staff are required to attend various social activities such as trips and excursions, escorting students from and to the airport/doctors.
There is a busy and varied evening activity programme, which all staff are involved in on a regular basis, as organised by the Summer Camp Director.
Staff will be assigned to a ‘boarding house team’. On days when the member of staff is on duty with the boarding house it is expected that the staff member will assist in chores and tasks as directed by the houseparent and Summer Camp Director. This includes afternoon free time supervision in house, leading or assisting with an evening activity, bedtime supervision in house. When on bedtime duty in the evening, the staff concerned are expected to be in the house as the children return from their evening activities and to remain in the building to assist with students until 22.30.
ACTIVITY LEADER
A role to lead an activity at the Summer Camp, to inspire and educate students. The afternoon activities are: Art, Campcraft, Team Games, Yoga, Dance, Drama, Raft-building, Orienteering, Hiking, Swimming, Bowling, Climbing (indoor and outdoor), Golf, Mini-golf, Tennis, Sailing, Stand up paddleboard, Wake surf, Bodyboard, Cookery, Bridge Swing, Kayak, Trampoline, Bubble Football, Archery, AI workshop.
The one week immersive courses are: ‘Ride’ Mountain Biking, Aiglon Adventure.
Prepare and lead an activity in the Summer Camp programme, delivering sessions to groups of around 12 students. The Activity Leader must hold the appropriate qualifications or show experience in leading their activity.
Activity Leaders running an immersive course week (Ride and Aiglon Adventure) are scheduled to work 8 - 5pm each day, the Saturday evening icebreaker games, Thursday evening merit awards, and one overnight expedition. During these weeks the staff are not on the house duty schedule.
Contribute towards an end-of-course report for each student.

Where the evening entertainment has a specific theme that features the activity leader’s skill set, the member of staff must be involved in organisation, rehearsals and the flow of the event. This will be managed by the Head of Evening Activities. This also includes raising its profile amongst the staff team.
Activity leaders should attend all lunchtime and evening meals (and sit with their assigned activity group for that afternoon during lunch) unless it is their day off.
It is necessary to attend the activity staff meetings each morning, and assist with Summer Camp preparation tasks.
Activity leaders must hold a current first aid certificate (a copy of which to be provided to the Summer Camp office), or attend the staff first aid training.

GROUP LEADER
A role to lead a group of students to activities and support their journey through Summer Camp.
A group leader will be assigned to an activity group of students and will then accompany that group to summer camp activities.
The main role of the group leader is the wellbeing and care of the children in their assigned activity group. The group leader will be responsible for sitting with and sharing information during mealtimes. The group leader will become like a ‘big brother’ or ‘big sister’ to the children in their group and be an adult (in addition to their houseparent) to whom the children can relate and confide.
The group leader will also assist the activity leader(s) in the delivery of the various activity sessions as requested by the activity leader.
Contribute towards an end-of-course report for each student in the class.
Awarding merit/demerit points during the programmes.
The group leader can expect to be assigned extra jobs which they will be responsible for during the Summer Camp. Examples of such jobs include: preparing the morning break-time refreshments for students, supervising morning break-times and assisting with the collection of waste for recycling.
It is necessary for this member of staff to attend the activity staff meetings each morning, and assist with Summer Camp preparation tasks, apart from on a day off.

A role to assist the course leader and coaches with specific courses at the Summer Camp (listed below). Candidates need to demonstrate experience and interest in the course subject.

Course Assistants are scheduled to work 8 - 5pm each day. During these weeks course assistants are not on the house duty schedule.
