The NKVTC is a new public Vocational Training Centre approved by the Namibia Training Authority (NTA) under the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) at the tertiary level. It is located in Kavango West Region (North of Namibia) and was established in 2025.

The Ministry of Education is a longstanding partner organization of Comundo and is committed to delivering a qualita tive and inclusive education for all children and youth in Namibia.

The Comundo Country Programme Namibia contributes significantly to a better education for all children and youth. To achieve this goal, we collaborate with the Ministry of Education, the regional Directorates of Education, different VTCs and NGOs.

Your activities / tasks

Your task is to support the NKVTC in its plan to set up a solar energy system production unit and to improve its solar energy and teaching (learner-centred approach, practical learning and exercising) capacities and knowledge. This will lead to improved quality and inclusive education and better job prospects for the youth of the Kavango West Region.

That is why we are looking for a professional to conduct the following tasks:

• Develop and coordinate the solar energy and production hub together with technical instruc tors/trainers and management
• Strengthen the practical skills of trainers and trainees in line with current industry standards, par ticularly in solar system design, installation, and production¨
• Provide technical capacity and knowledge sharing for NKVTC trainers and management
• Support the further development of trainers’ teaching skills, including learner-centred approaches, classroom management, practical exercises and curriculum implementation
• Strengthen collaboration with private and public sector companies to facilitate job shadowing, in ternships and other opportunities for practical industry exposure

Your profile

• Qualification as a Solar Technician or Electrician
• Experience in vocational training in renewable energy
• Practical experience in solar energy, particularly in photovoltaic (PV) systems, system design, in stallation, energy production and intelligent electronic control systems
• Knowledge of current renewable energy technologies, including photovoltaic systems, energy storage solutions and system integration
• Ability to support the establishment and operationalisation of a small-scale solar production and/or workshop unit¨
• Industry experience in solar PV system design is an advantage
• Strong networking and knowledge-sharing skills
• Proficient computer skills

General requirements

• Completed vocational or tertiary education
• At least 5 years of professional experience
• Between 30 and 60 years old
• Resident in Switzerland or Swiss citizenship
• Professional Working Proficiency
• Intercultural competencies and the ability to act in diverse contexts
• Good physical and mental health
• Basic knowledge in project management, institutional development, and adult education welcome
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• High social and communication skills and intercultural sensitivity
• You are motivated to live a simple lifestyle
• You are prepared to contribute to public relations and fundraising for Comundo
• Advanced knowledge of English
