The Geneva Library (BGE) is a department of the Culture and Digital Transition Department. Founded in the 16th century, in charge of the cantonal legal deposit, it possesses the oldest and most important collection in French-speaking Switzerland, composed in particular of manuscripts, books, maps, posters, scores, photographs, and archives - important for the university community and the general public of the region. The collections of the Geneva Library are distributed across sites located at the Bastions, the Iconography Center, La Musicale, and Les Délices. In order to guarantee the continuity of its services and strengthen its position within the Swiss Library Service Platform (SLSP) network, the service is looking for a Librarian in charge of periodicals at 80%.Your mission and responsibilities- Manage the press and journals collection (paper and electronic), in particular the periodicals collection.- Ensure the reception and guidance of the public, initiate and contribute to cultural mediation activities in their area of expertise.- Participate in the operation of the local network of scientific libraries of the City of Geneva as a subject matter expert.- Perform all activities necessary for the preservation of the heritage and the management of a City of Geneva documentary service.Profile- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Science or an equivalent qualification.- Justify at least 4 years of professional experience in a similar position; professional experience in a library is an advantage.- Master the Alma library management system and the cataloging rules in force in the SLSP network and be comfortable with standard tools.- Have an interest in technological developments related to documentary professions.- Possess excellent writing skills, with the ability to popularize technical or scientific content in a clear and accessible manner.- Demonstrate autonomy, a good team spirit, and an ability to evolve in transverse and complex environments.Application procedureApplication deadline:Start date: to be agreedJob classification: Class I of the salary scaleThe application file must contain the following elements:- Cover letter;- Curriculum Vitae or, failing that, a completed Job Application form (to be downloaded from our website);- Copies of diplomas and work certificates.For the City of Geneva, the recruitment process is decentralized.
