Senior Technician at 40%The University of Neuchâtel is advertising a position for a Senior Technician at 40% within the Centre for Hydrogeology and Geothermics (CHYN) of the Faculty of Science at the University of Neuchâtel.ActivitiesAs a senior technician, you will work in a university teaching and scientific research context that requires adaptability and the ability to propose customized technical solutions meeting the needs of teaching and research tasks. Within the framework of this position, your missions are mainly the following:- You ensure the management, maintenance, calibration, and repair of field measurement equipment. This equipment includes, among others, soil and water sampling equipment, pumping devices, piezometric and flow measurement devices, water physicochemical condition measurement devices, environmental monitoring instruments, and geophysical measurement equipment.- In collaboration with CHYN researchers, you manage the inventory of devices.- You develop and build, in collaboration with CHYN researchers and students, customized data acquisition devices, ensuring the design of the various elements of such devices, including physical elements (mechanics, 3D printing, etc.), the choice of sensors, as well as data acquisition and transmission electronics.- You accompany, supervise, and advise students and doctoral candidates during their fieldwork as part of their studies and their master's or thesis projects.- You explain and demonstrate the use of field equipment to bachelor and master students.- You are responsible for the deployment of measurement instruments in the field to meet the needs of research and teaching projects.Desired Profile- You have a technical or scientific background with knowledge of environmental monitoring, electronics, and the maintenance and development of measurement instruments, or any other background deemed equivalent.- You have confirmed experience of at least 5 years in a technical support environment for research and development.- A formal scientific degree is not essential but is an advantage.- In all cases, you have the ability to work autonomously, demonstrate ingenuity in your work, and have the scientific curiosity necessary for R&D work.Start date: July 1st or by arrangement.Application deadline: June 19th.Information:If you wish to take up this challenge, please visit the University of Neuchâtel's employment website.
