The school medical and psycho-pedagogical service (SMSPP) provides support to pupils from 1H to 8H in ordinary and specialised classes in the City of Sion, both French-speaking and bilingual. The medical sector also intervenes up to the end of CO and with German classes, institutes, and private schools. This service is aimed at pupils and collaborates with parents, teachers, as well as partners in the health and education network. A multidisciplinary team composed of speech therapists, psychomotricity therapists, school psychologists, and school nurses provides personalised support to children in difficulty. Interventions are carried out in close collaboration with the school and aim to support children in their educational journey by addressing difficulties that affect their learning. The SMSPP is committed to offering attentive and adapted support to promote the well-being and success of each pupil.
The City of Sion is advertising a position for a
School Nurse M/F 50%
within the SMSPP, a section attached to the Culture and Training department.
Main missions
- Implement cantonal directives in school health, particularly in the areas of vaccination, integration of pupils with special health needs, as well as prevention and detection of abuse;
- Act as a health referent for pupils, their families, teachers, and SMSPP staff.
Conditions of employment
- Nurse diploma recognised by the Red Cross (HES or ES title, Inf. level II, general care, HMP) or deemed equivalent;
- Training or professional experience in school health, public health, or paediatrics; failing that, willingness to undertake continuing training agreed with the responsible doctor;
- Knowledge of the regional medico-social network as well as knowledge in child psychiatry would be an asset;
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills;
- Organisational skills, rigour, and autonomy in performing duties;
- Discretion, availability, and sense of responsibility;
- Composure, responsiveness, and adaptability to unforeseen events;
- Fluency in French and common IT tools;
- Driving licence;
- Employment is conditional on presenting a criminal record extract compliant with the requirements of the position.

Salary
According to the City of Sion staff regulations and the Municipality's salary scale.
