Project Leader Diagnostic Development

Description
Our client is a global diagnostics and healthcare technology organization that develops complex, large-scale laboratory automation solutions. As a Project Leader and member of the Automation Lifecycle leadership team you are responsible for connecting product development with successful commercial delivery, translating customer, business, and strategic requirements into clear priorities for multidisciplinary project teams. In addition to leading development, engineering, integration, and external partner activities across the full product lifecycle, you are accountable for delivering the solution on time, on budget, on quality, and in line with defined requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the cross-functional development and delivery of a large-scale modular diagnostic system, integrating software, hardware, engineering, and broader system-level activities.
  • Own project execution across quality, cost, timelines, scope, resources, risks, and key milestones from development through launch and commercial delivery.
  • Manage an annual project budget, including decisions on resource allocation and the engagement of external suppliers and delivery partners.
  • Translate customer needs, business objectives, and strategic priorities into clear direction for multidisciplinary and multisite teams, while resolving dependencies and escalated bottlenecks.
  • Align internal functions and external partners on system architecture, technology solutions, development plans, product functionality, and delivery priorities.
  • Lead through influence without direct reporting lines, selecting appropriate project contributors, driving accountability, and collaborating effectively with global stakeholders and international partners.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience leading complex modular product or system development, including software development and product launches in a diagnostics environment.
  • Strong understanding of systems design, technology stacks, large-scale modular architectures, and the integration of software, hardware, and engineering disciplines.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary, multisite, and cross-functional teams in complex global development environments.
  • Strong commercial and operational judgment, with experience managing significant budgets, resources, timelines, risks, suppliers, and competing priorities.
  • Advanced communication, stakeholder management, influencing, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including the ability to drive alignment without formal authority.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and experience collaborating with international partners, ideally including Japanese stakeholders.
