We are hiring a Part-Time Live-out Nanny (35%) – Native German Speaker – Long-Term Position – Geneva / Nernier (France)
A warm and welcoming family is seeking an experienced, caring, and reliable nanny to care primarily for their eldest daughter (22 months old). The position is long-term and based between Thônex (Geneva canton) and Nernier (France), depending on the season.
Start date: August 2026
Contract: Permanent (CDI) – Long-term placement
Work rate: Approximately 35% (around 14 hours per week)
Schedule: 2 full days per week (ideally Tuesday and Wednesday, with some flexibility; no Fridays)
Working hours: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Accommodation: Live-out position
Location:
- From May to September: Nernier, France (74140 – approximately 30 minutes from Geneva)
- From September to April: Thônex, Geneva canton (1226)
The nanny must be comfortable working in both locations throughout the year. Parking is available at both residences. A car is recommended for commuting to Nernier, although no driving is required during working hours (public transport with the children is preferred).
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing attentive and nurturing care primarily for the eldest daughter (22 months old)
- Engaging in meaningful, high-quality activities (reading, speaking, playing, outdoor outings)
- Supporting the child’s development through a calm, structured, Montessori-inspired approach
- Managing daily routines including lunchtime and nap time
- Respecting the child’s individual rhythm, especially regarding sleep
- Maintaining a safe, stable, and stimulating environment
- Occasional care for the younger child in the future (from around spring 2027)
- Performing light child-related tidying (no housekeeping required)
Profile:
- Proven experience with young children (toddlers and ideally infants)
- Warm, patient, reliable, and highly attentive
- Able to provide a calm, structured, and engaging environment
- Strong interest in child development and ideally familiar with Montessori principles
- Comfortable working in the presence of a parent (mother is at home)
- Comfortable around dogs (family has two English bulldogs)
- No phone use during working hours
Languages:
- Native or near-native German (Hochdeutsch / Standard German) – mandatory
(Clear and consistent use of standard German with the children is essential) - English or French is a plus
