The Vaud Hospitals Federation IT ( FHVi ) is the preferred IT partner of 12 hospitals and regional health institutions in the canton of Vaud. FHVi supports them in the many challenges of digital transformation in the healthcare sector and its main missions are to plan, design, implement and operate the IT system of its members. There are more than 120 employees serving 14,000 users, with over 8,000 workstations spread across about a hundred geographical sites and three cantons (VD, VS, FR).

Network Team Lead

FHVi is looking for a Network Team Lead capable of combining technical expertise, architectural vision and team coordination to ensure the performance, availability and evolution of its critical network infrastructures.
Your mission:
As a Network Team Lead, you are above all a high-level technical reference. You work on architecture, resilience and evolution of network infrastructures while ensuring the operational coordination of a team of experts.
You actively participate in technological choices, resolving complex issues and leading strategic projects that support FHVi’s activities.
Your responsibilities:
Network expertise & architecture
- Act as the technical reference for FHVi’s network infrastructures.
- Design, evolve and maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and Datacentre network architectures.
- Define technical standards, best practices and network architecture guidelines.
- Ensure availability, performance and resilience of network infrastructures.
- Handle complex issues and major level 3 incidents.
Security & service continuity
- Contribute to securing network infrastructures: segmentation, filtering, access control and flow management.
- Collaborate with the CISO on cybersecurity initiatives.
- Participate in vulnerability management and security incident handling.
- Contribute to continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
Run maintenance
- Ensure the stability and availability of network infrastructures in daily production.
- Effectively manage incidents and service requests within deadlines, ensuring adherence to defined service levels.
- Supervise the health status of critical network infrastructures and services via existing monitoring tools.
- Regularly produce and communicate performance indicators (KPIs) to management: service availability, backlog volume and status, resolution rate and processing times.
- Identify recurring problems and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Ensure service continuity during planned interventions (maintenance, updates) in coordination with relevant teams.
Technical leadership & coordination
- Be the technical reference for the network team, escalation point for complex incidents and level 3 technical issues.
- Coordinate the team’s daily activities: task distribution, progress tracking and priority management.
- Provide technical coaching and skills development for team members.
- Promote knowledge sharing within the team: documentation, feedback and best practices.
- Contribute to defining the network technical roadmap in collaboration with IT management.
- Participate in transformation and infrastructure evolution projects.
Profile sought:
Education & experience
- Higher education in IT or telecommunications (HES Engineer, EPF or equivalent qualification).
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in network engineering and security.
- Significant experience in critical and complex environments.
- Initial experience in technical coordination or team leadership appreciated.
Technical skills
- Strong expertise in routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, MSTP) on LAN, WAN and Datacentre infrastructures.
- Mastery of network security solutions: firewalls, segmentation, filtering, VPN and access control (NAC).
- Experience with Wi-Fi infrastructures and multi-site environments.
- Excellent knowledge of high availability architectures and redundant infrastructures.
- Experience with network monitoring and observability tools.
- Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP or equivalent) appreciated.
