About the Role
This role sits within the CI (Competitive Intelligence) team of Product Development department at Philip Morris International. You will act as an operational anchor for the team: owning sample and product logistics while also taking direct ownership of data structuring and preparation work for downstream analysis.
This is a hands-on, dual-track position: approximately 40–50% physical and operational coordination, and 50–60% data-focused work.
Key Responsibilities
Sample & Product Coordination
• Collect, receive, and organize product samples from markets globally
• Coordinate sample delivery to laboratories and track analysis timelines
• Maintain physical and digital sample storage systems — organized, traceable, and up to date
Data Organization & Data Analytics
• Normalize, clean, and structure CI datasets from multiple source types (spreadsheets, PDFs, web extracts, lab outputs)
• Convert unstructured or semi-structured data into machine-readable formats (CSV, JSON, JSONL)
• Apply consistent product taxonomies and attribute tagging to the data
• Support Power BI dashboard data preparation — ensure clean, correctly formatted inputs
• Document data transformation logic and maintain version-controlled data files
Required Skills
Must Have
Technical
• Proficiency in Excel
• Familiarity with at least one BI tool
• Working knowledge of structured data formats
• Basic data cleaning and normalization skills
• Comfort using Python or SQL at a basic, operational level (e.g., simple scripts or queries to streamline repetitive data‑handling tasks)
Operational & Soft Skills
• Great organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Clear and proactive communication with labs, market teams, and other stakeholders
• Fast thinker
Nice to Have
• Exposure to data annotation, labeling, or taxonomy management, especially for product attributes, product databases, or structured sensory/analytical data
• Experience preparing data in JSON, JSONL, CSV or other structured formats commonly used for ML or internal automation workflows
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms
• Understanding of competitive intelligence workflows, ideally within FMCG
• Basic scripting experience (Python preferred) for recurring data-cleaning tasks, file parsing, or simple automations
• Formal education or coursework in Business Analytics, Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar fields
