Description

We will accomplish together
Within the Energy and Industrial Ecology Directorate, the Wastewater (WW) activity is responsible for transporting, treating wastewater from the canton and the cross-border region using treatment plants, and then discharging it into the natural environment. The WW activity fulfils this role in compliance with federal and cantonal water laws and based on cantonal planning for water discharge.

While our core profession will always remain water treatment, our current and upcoming challenges are significant and essential to achieve ambitious environmental and sustainable development goals (micropollutant treatment, natural biogas production, solar PV production, thermal recovery of wastewater and sludge, reduction of CO2 emissions).

In addition, there are technological challenges we must meet to improve our operating methods, such as AI-assisted predictive maintenance or process optimisation through digital twins.

As an Instrument Technician - Wastewater Treatment, your mission will be to ensure the reliability and continuous improvement of measurement and analysis systems of the canton’s WW facilities, guaranteeing data quality, diagnosing malfunctions, optimising processes with the operator, and maintaining active technological monitoring.

Your energy in the service of a sustainable Geneva
Within your scope, you will be responsible for:

Ensuring the proper functioning, maintenance, and servicing of measurement and analysis systems of the canton’s WW facilities;
Contributing to the continuous improvement of measurement systems and associated processes;
Guaranteeing the quality, reliability, and consistency of analyses and measurement tools, as well as monitoring and compiling data throughout the year;
Diagnosing malfunctions and ensuring the link between analyses and operational results, interacting with the operator to optimise settings and performance;
Maintaining active technological monitoring within your area of expertise.
Your personality and skills
You demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility, synthesis, and initiative, as well as availability and versatility. Your team spirit and communication skills enable you to collaborate effectively with various operational stakeholders. You show good adaptability to technical and organisational changes.

You have excellent knowledge of measurement devices and analytical monitoring of treatment plants. You are capable of controlling and diagnosing treatment quality and interacting with the operator to modify and optimise settings. You keep yourself informed of developments in measurement processes and new equipment.

Your academic background
You hold a Bachelor of Science from a University of Applied Sciences, a diploma as a chemical engineering technician, a Federal VET Diploma (CFC) as a laboratory technician (chemistry/physics), or as an operator of automated machinery.

You have more than 5 years of experience in instrumentation or plant operation, ideally in the field of water treatment.

Holding the federal certificate or diploma as a WWTP operator (STEP FES) is an advantage.
