Job description

Location: Zurich city centre

Employment: Full-time | Permanent or Interim

Start Date: Immediate / immediate availability is required

About the Role

Swisslinx is looking for a Finance Manager to take hands-on responsibility for our Finance function in Zurich.

Due to immediate business requirements, we are specifically looking for someone who is available to start immediately.

This is a highly operational finance role. The initial priority is to bring in someone who can step in from day one and take ownership of financial closing, accounting, audit preparation and reporting, ensuring that the day-to-day Finance function runs smoothly and reliably.

Once these immediate operational priorities are firmly established, the position will develop into a broader role covering financial planning, business partnering, process improvement and the further development of the Finance function.

As Swisslinx is part of a Nasdaq-listed international group, the role combines responsibility for Swiss local finance requirements with international group reporting, controls and US GAAP-related requirements.

While our preference is to make a permanent appointment, given the immediate nature of the requirement, we are equally open to experienced interim Finance professionals who are available now and can quickly take ownership of the operational Finance agenda.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting, Closing & Audit

  • Take hands-on ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing activities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial accounts.
  • Manage and review balance-sheet reconciliations, accruals, provisions and other closing activities.
  • Coordinate and support Swiss statutory and group audits, working directly with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare audit documentation and respond to auditor requests.
  • Ensure compliance with Swiss accounting, tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Support US GAAP/group reporting and audit requirements as part of a Nasdaq-listed international group.
  • Maintain and further develop internal financial controls and processes.
  • Coordinate with external fiduciaries, tax advisors and other financial service providers where required.

Controlling, Planning & Reporting

  • Prepare and review monthly management and financial reporting.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning.
  • Analyse revenue, costs, margins, profitability and working capital.
  • Monitor financial and operational KPIs and provide clear variance analysis.
  • Provide reliable financial information and practical recommendations to support management decision-making.
  • Support group reporting and ensure accurate and timely submission of financial information.

Finance Operations & Process Improvement

  • Ensure the effective day-to-day operation of the Finance function.
  • Work closely with Operations, Sales, HR and other internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and strengthen Finance processes.
  • Support improvements to ERP, reporting and financial-control processes.
  • Contribute to the further development of the Finance function once the immediate operational priorities have been addressed.

Your Profile

  • Available to start immediately.
  • Several years of experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Accounting Manager or in a comparable hands-on Finance position.
  • Strong practical accounting knowledge with recent hands-on experience in monthly, quarterly and annual closing.
  • Experience preparing for and supporting external/statutory audits.
  • Good understanding of Swiss accounting and statutory requirements.
  • Strong experience in controlling, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Comfortable working directly in the detail and taking operational ownership rather than purely overseeing or delegating Finance activities.
  • Degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Controlling, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Experience within an international or group-reporting environment.
  • Exposure to US GAAP and/or a US-listed company environment would be an advantage.
  • Experience with iScala would be a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills and good experience with ERP and reporting systems.
  • Fluent English is required. German language skills are advantageous but not essential, provided you are comfortable working with Swiss accounting, tax and regulatory terminology.
  • Independent, pragmatic and solution-oriented working style with the ability to quickly understand an existing Finance environment.

The Profile We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who combines strong accounting and controlling expertise with a genuinely hands-on approach.

In the initial phase, the priority is very much on execution. You should be comfortable getting into the detail yourself, taking ownership of closing and audit activities, resolving issues and ensuring that critical Finance deadlines are met.

At the same time, you should have the experience and confidence to work with senior management and international group stakeholders.

As the immediate operational priorities are addressed, there will be increasing scope to contribute to business partnering, financial planning, process optimisation, the further development of the Finance function, and Group-level Finance projects.

What We Offer

  • A broad Finance Manager position with significant ownership and visibility.
  • The opportunity to take responsibility for a local Finance function within an international, Nasdaq-listed group.
  • A role combining hands-on accounting and controlling with longer-term business partnering and development opportunities.
  • Close collaboration with local management and international Finance stakeholders.
  • A modern and international working environment in Zurich city centre.
  • Short decision-making paths and an entrepreneurial company culture.
  • Flexibility to consider either a permanent appointment or an interim solution for an immediately available candidate.

Purpose of the Role

The Finance Manager ensures the smooth and reliable day-to-day operation of the Finance function, with an immediate focus on accurate financial closing, audit readiness, accounting quality and financial reporting.

Beyond these initial priorities, the role will contribute to strengthening financial processes, controls, planning and business partnering, supporting Swisslinx's continued development as part of an international listed group.
