The EPF Council is the governing and supervisory body of the EPF Domain, which comprises the two federal polytechnic schools of Zurich and Lausanne (ETH Zurich and EPFL) as well as the research institutions PSI, WSL, Empa, and Eawag. It is supported by a person responsible for preparing and implementing its services. The Finance Department prepares and publishes the consolidated annual accounts of the EPF Domain in accordance with public sector accounting standards (IPSAS), consolidates and establishes the budget, coordinates financial resources, and works to meet other financial requirements set by the owner. To plan for the succession of the current incumbent, we are ideally looking for a Head of Finance 80-100% starting July 1.Your skillsIn this essential key role, you are the primary contact for the EPF Council regarding all finance matters of the EPF Domain. You lead a team of five specialists, are responsible for the consolidated financial reporting according to IPSAS, and ensure the efficiency of financial management. You are the competent point of contact for institutions, coordinate projects concerning the entire EPF Domain, and represent the interests of the owner by providing or coordinating financial services with the institutions of the EPF Domain, as well as with the owner. In this context, you personally carry out a wide range of tasks. Furthermore, you develop well-founded decision-making bases in view of federal resources. You clarify complex issues concerning accounts collaboratively with institutions, federal finance authorities, and the Federal Financial Control, and manage processes to ensure liquidity and comply with the cash management agreement between the AFF and the EPF Council. Finally, you develop the internal X system, optimize financial processes, and lead the Financial Conference, which is a technical group composed of specialists from the institutions within the Domain.Your profileYou hold a degree in business economics and have additional qualifications in finance (diploma as an accounting expert, finance and controlling expert) and possess solid knowledge in finance and accounting. You have several years of experience in preparing and consolidating financial statements, ideally within a public sector department or applying demanding accounting standards. You have experience in a managerial position and are well-acquainted with the workings of research policy. You demonstrate confidence in your actions and actively and independently tackle complex financial issues. You possess a keen understanding of the political context, communicate appropriately with all your contacts, and navigate with ease in demanding environments involving numerous stakeholders. You ensure to build strong relationships, engage with stakeholders as equals, and advocate convincingly for your employer's interests. You stand out for your remarkable analytical thinking, networking ability, and transparent style suited to different levels. Fluent in French or German, you have a good understanding of the other language. A very good command of English completes your profile. Your main workplace is in Zurich, and you travel regularly to Bern for meetings (offices of the EPF Council).
