The Employee Experience Partner - Doctoral Candidates provides advice and support to the entire doctoral community, including doctoral candidates as well as thesis supervisors, for all questions related to managing specific and complex situations, ensuring compliance, quality, and consistency of practices.
- Supports and accompanies unit managers for all matters related to the management of doctoral candidates, from their arrival to their departure from EPFL (onboarding, probation period, contract extension, contract termination, etc.)
- Advises and supports doctoral candidates throughout their career at EPFL
- Develops, plans, and organises workshops for doctoral candidates and unit managers on EHS topics
- Manages and monitors problematic situations involving doctoral candidates in partnership with the Employee Experience Partners of the relevant area
- Supports Employee Experience Partners in transformation projects (reorganisation, laboratory closures, etc.) regarding aspects related to doctoral candidates
- Collaborates with Employee Experience Partners by providing them with regular reports concerning the PhDs in their area
- Collaborates with various centres of expertise
- Ensures the implementation of EHS policies and legal frameworks
- Actively contributes to internal and cross-functional projects, working groups, and workshop facilitation to develop our processes and services related to doctoral candidates
Team members provide help and support to colleagues, thus fostering collaboration, smooth operations, and a spirit of mutual assistance within the Employee Experience team.
University or University of Applied Sciences degree, specialising in Human Resources, or equivalent training (CAS in mediation, etc.)
Minimum 8 years of experience in a similar role with the same type of responsibilities within a large company - experience in the academic world is a major asset.
Ability to manage complex situations, defuse conflicts, and facilitate discussions
Very good organisation and excellent ability to manage priorities and stress
Ability to build trust-based partnerships and diplomacy are essential qualities
Good knowledge of Swiss HR legal and administrative frameworks; knowledge of public law is an asset.
Excellent communication skills in English and French
