Electrical Technician


Mission

The EPFL Valais Wallis Campus in Sion currently hosts 17 active laboratories in the key fields of energy, environment, and health. The campus is expanding rapidly. To ensure the proper functioning of the site’s buildings and, by extension, the success of our scientific research, we are looking for a versatile technician capable of managing the operation and monitoring of our technical installations. This involves a range of tasks from daily maintenance of installations to coordinating numerous external contractors, while ensuring rigorous administrative management. Although the main mission focuses on the proper functioning of electrical installations, versatility in tasks is expected. The technician will be required to collaborate proactively within the operations team.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance operations related to electrical installations in buildings;
  • Ensure legal compliance of electrical work according to OIBT standards;
  • Prepare OIBT measurement reports following electrical installation work;
  • Troubleshoot electrical installations;
  • Perform small electrical installations;
  • Enter necessary information into the CMMS;
  • Carry out work related to electrical installations of machines and peripheral equipment;
  • Monitor external companies for electrical work including administrative follow-up of interventions;
  • Follow up on various technical projects.
Profile
  • Federal Certificate of Competence (CFC) as an electrician installer or equivalent recognised by ESTI;
  • Holder of Article 13 OIBT;
  • Knowledge of NIBT 2020 or 2025;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience;
  • Extensive knowledge of the general operation of a building;
  • Solution-oriented and good ability to work in a team in a demanding environment;
  • Good IT skills, particularly proficiency in basic Office tools;
  • Proactive and good ability to manage priorities;
  • Stress resistance and ability to handle multiple requests simultaneously;
  • Knowledge of HVAC technical installations is an asset;
  • Good oral and written communication in French, English is an asset;
  • Mastery of regulation/automation tools is an asset;
  • Knowledge of a CMMS is an asset;
  • Experience in a scientific/academic/laboratory environment is an asset.
