Internal Machining Manager



Desired profile:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Proven experience in team management
  • Strong knowledge of various machining equipment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft suite (Excel, Access, Word, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Very good knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC preferred)
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset
  • Ability to unite and motivate cross-functional teams, direct and indirect collaborators
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
  • Languages: French and English, another language is an asset
  • Knowledge of standards and regulatory requirements specific to the industrial sector

The Manager oversees the daily operations of the internal machining department, ensuring efficient production, compliance with quality and safety standards, and optimisation of resources. This role involves creating production schedules and implementing process improvements to achieve departmental objectives. Furthermore, the position includes responsibility for the Apprenticeship Centre, with direct responsibility for the entire Polymécanicien CFC training programme.


Main responsibilities:

  • Define and implement manufacturing strategies for milling and turning machines (CNC machines) to achieve set objectives (machine utilisation rate, productive hours)
  • Ensure a high level of quality by minimising non-conformity rates
  • Ensure proper implementation of the 4-year apprenticeship programme to guarantee optimal and efficient allocation of training hours and timely attainment of the Polymécanicien CFC
  • Identify process improvement and cost reduction opportunities, implement solutions to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to monitor operational performance and make necessary adjustments
  • Train and support teams on new processes and improvement opportunities
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the department's main processes
  • Ensure all processes comply with applicable laws, regulations and operational standards (ISO and ESG)
