Payot Libraire is the group’s historic brand, created in 1877, and the first Nature & Découvertes store in Switzerland opened in 2009.

As part of a replacement, Payot Lausanne is looking for, for its humanities section, on a permanent contract (41 hours per week), from mid-October 2026:
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT M/F PERMANENT CONTRACT – HUMANITIES SECTION – FULL TIME
Main responsibilities :
- Team leadership, delegation and control
- Management of schedules and ensuring resource allocation
- Development and support of teams
- Liaison between the team and the manager
- Participation in bookstore management meetings and acting as the manager’s deputy with fellow managers in their absence
- Ensuring compliance with rules and their application
- Responsible for purchasing and the in-store offer
- Ensuring the right balance between variety and profitability, as well as the number of returns
- Adapting the offer according to market potential and customer needs
- Analysis of turnover and implementation of relevant actions
- Management of external sales (development of the local network, organisation of sales, monitoring and return of books)
We are looking for people :
- With a CFC qualification as a bookseller or equivalent training
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in team management
- Possessing a broad and diverse general culture
- Curious about new releases and current affairs
- Versatile across the entire bookstore
- Good communicators, organised and able to manage stress and priorities
- Rigorous, methodical and comfortable with IT tools
