The municipality of Chêne-Bourg is advertising the position of
Deputy Head of the Environment and Public Domain Service at 100%
The Environment and Public Domain Service is a key player in the living environment in Chêne-Bourg. Comprising eleven employees and one apprentice, it ensures daily cleanliness, aesthetics, and quality of the municipality’s public spaces. The deputy head of service will be responsible for assisting the head in the execution, planning, coordination, and supervision of activities related to green spaces and the operational management of the public domain. They will work closely not only with the head of service but also with the second deputy head, and will be specifically responsible for:
- supporting the head of service in the operational and administrative management of teams
- acting as deputy for the head of service and/or the second deputy head
- planning and implementing the comprehensive maintenance of green spaces and the public domain
- collaborating in snow clearance and salting (including night shifts, weekends, and year-end holiday periods)
- coordinating and ensuring the setup of equipment for municipal events
- participating in biodiversity projects and differentiated maintenance across the territory
- participating in the administrative management of the service (budget, reports, maintenance contracts)
- managing requests from residents and partners with the service secretariat
- participating in public communication
Required profile:
- Possession of a Federal VET Diploma (CFC) as a horticulturist-landscaper or equivalent
- Federal certificate or higher education in the field is an asset
- Proven experience in the field with team management
- Driving licence (required), machine operator licence is an asset
- Mastery of landscape horticulture
- Knowledge of Swiss and Geneva standards
- Ability to supervise and organise team work
- Organisational skills and ability to manage priorities
- Sensitivity to ecological issues
- Rigour, autonomy, initiative
- Sense of public service and fairness
- Good stress management
- Tact and interpersonal skills
- Team spirit
- Availability outside usual hours for shifts, events, etc.
