Disarmament Intern (CHEG)

The UK Mission to the UN \& WTO in Geneva represents the interests and policies of the UK at many international organisations in Geneva and is recruiting a highly motivated Disarmament Intern. An excellent opportunity to support a busy Disarmament team at the heart of multilateral diplomacy.

Main purpose of job:
This internship is an opportunity to gain direct experience in providing policy, research, and administrative support to the Disarmament team at the UK Mission in Geneva. The internship combines meeting participation, analytical monitoring, and operational coordination.
Roles and responsibilities:
1\) Policy \& Meeting Support (25%)
Attend and report on meetings of the Conference on Disarmament and other major arms control treaties
Draft concise, accurate summaries highlighting key developments, positions, and outcomes
Support preparation for meetings and events on disarmament and related issues
2\) Research \& Monitoring (25%)
Monitor academic, NGO, and online discussions on disarmament and arms control
Identify and summarise relevant insights for the team
Deliver short research tasks on emerging policy themes
3\) Administration \& Operations (50%)
Manage the team’s general inbox and triage enquiries
Support logistics for meetings and side events
Coordinate with the Press and Public Affairs team on communications
Provide general administrative support to ensure smooth team delivery
Disarmament Intern (CHEG)
Our Ideal Candidate shows:
Professional proficiency written and spoken in English at a C1 level (aligned with the CEFR framework\*)
Masters Degree (completed or near completion) in Disarmament, Arms Control, International Relations, Political Science, War Studies, Security Studies, Conflict Resolution, International Law, AI Governance or a related field OR 2–3 years’ relevant professional experience.
Demonstrable interest in international relations, multilateral systems, and/or disarmament issues
Experience or familiarity with work in think tanks, diplomatic settings, NGOs, or the private sector
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast\-paced environment
Open, cooperative attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team
Confident user of standard office tools (e.g. MS Office) and ability to quickly adapt to new systems
Nice to have:
Some level of French would be helpful
