OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced and highly commercial Tanker Broker to join our Tanker Desk in Geneva. This is a specialist role requiring extensive knowledge of the global tanker market, strong industry relationships, and a proven ability to negotiate and execute complex chartering successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to clients, identifying commercial opportunities, arranging fixtures, providing strategic market intelligence, and contributing to the growth of the brokerage business. Operating within a highly competitive global market, the role demands strong commercial acumen, established credibility, and an extensive network across owners, charterers, traders, and is a unique opportunity for an accomplished broker to join a dynamic and internationally connected team, working closely with colleagues across London, Dubai, Madrid and other global offices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Arrange and negotiate tanker chartering agreements on behalf of shipowners and the full lifecycle of voyage and time charter fixtures, from initial enquiry through to successful deal conclusion.Proactively develop new business opportunities whilst maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing clients and market contacts.Represent clients in commercial negotiations and secure optimal outcomes while maintaining long-term commercial relationships.Prepare, facilitate, evaluate and negotiate fixtures efficiently and on the best possible terms.Provide clients with accurate market intelligence, freight assessments, vessel availability updates and trading opportunities.Monitor global tanker markets, freight rates, vessel movements, geopolitical developments and trading the viability and risks of new business opportunities, providing recommendations and highlighting commercial considerations to management.Collaborate closely with brokers, operations and post-fixture teams to ensure smooth execution of fixtures.Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues globally, ensuring clear and timely instructions and information sharing.Maintain accurate records of fixtures, negotiations, market activity and client engagement.Represent the business at industry events, conferences and client to the Global Head of Tankers and build strong working relationships across the global brokerage network.
EXPERIENCEEssential
Significant experience as a Tanker Broker within the international shipping track record of successfully fixing tanker business, including crude oil, clean petroleum products (CPP), dirty petroleum products (DPP) and/or chemical tankers.Demonstrable experience generating revenue and developing profitable client relationships.Established network of contacts across owners, charterers, traders, operators and other key market participants.Strong understanding of:Voyage Charter PartiesTime Charter PartiesFreight marketsDemurrage principlesTanker operationsMarine commercial practicesAbility to operate independently within a fast-paced and competitive environment.
Desirable
Experience gained within a leading shipbroking company, tanker owner, operator or commodity trading organisation.Knowledge of major tanker segments, including VLCC, Suezmax, Aframax etc.Demonstrable knowledge of the Middle East LR, MR and Handy tanker markets, together with a strong understanding of the time charter market; and/orStrong knowledge of the US LR, MR and Handy tanker markets, with experience across both CPP and DPP sectors.Fluency in French would be highly advantageous.
