With nearly 1,200 employees, the Department of Acute Medicine (DMA) includes the services of anesthesiology, clinical pharmacology and toxicology, intensive care, and emergency services. It addresses a fourfold mission through its services that provide their expertise in frequent interaction with all the Geneva University Hospitals, with a transversal approach, aiming to ensure the best possible management of patients. The Emergency Department is a transversal service with the mission of welcoming patients 24/7 regardless of the nature of their problem, ensuring prompt and efficient care in order to direct them to the most appropriate structure. The Emergency Department also provides urgent medical assistance at the cantonal level, coordinates major events, and serves as a reference service for other facilities.You will participate in the medical management of the Emergency Department in both intra- and extrahospital settings (SMUR). You will join a collegial team to ensure, in close collaboration with your hierarchy, the direction of a care unit and the clinical activities assigned to you. In this capacity, you will be responsible, under supervision, for medical acts by establishing a balance between the work requested and the capabilities of the team’s physicians. You will transmit medical decisions and all necessary information in a timely manner to the physicians, nursing staff, and involved partners. In your activity, you will inform patients and their families in a simple manner and within the limits of confidentiality. You will develop and handle the medical record and work closely with the medical team for its regular updating and closure. You will record completed actions in order to generate reports, actively participate in the activities of supervision of internal medical staff, development and research activities, as well as the development of acute medicine.You must hold a medical degree or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO). Furthermore, you should ideally also hold a specialty title in general internal medicine, surgery, or anesthesiology, or an equivalent title recognized by the FOPH (MEBEKO). A specialty title or a university degree in emergency medicine obtained or in progress is a plus.You have solid clinical experience in a university-type emergency service with high activity volume and a marked interest in acute medicine. You have proficiency in French, an open mind, good listening skills, and a sense of synthesis. You are dynamic, flexible, enthusiastic, and demonstrate discretion and tenacity. For non-French speakers, a C1 level in French is required.Permanent service (24 hours a day, 365 days a year). You participate in shifts and on-call duties according to the service needs.
