The Catholic Church Biel is a vibrant place of encounter, faith, and community. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed, responsible, and service-oriented individual as Chief Sacristan by agreement.
Chief Sacristan 80-100% (m/f)
Your tasks:
- Overall responsibility for the sacristan service, preparation of services and church celebrations.
- Leadership, planning and coordination of the assignments of sacristans and cleaning staff for all locations of the parish.
- Employee discussions, job descriptions, personnel development.
- Preparation and accompaniment of baptisms, weddings, funerals and special liturgical occasions.
- Participation in church festivals and events.
- Close cooperation with pastoral care, administration, and volunteers.
- Maintenance, upkeep and provision of liturgical equipment, vestments and church rooms.
- Responsibility for the operation, cleaning and maintenance of all churches, centres and administrative buildings.
Qualifications:
- Completed training as a sacristan or willingness to complete the corresponding training. Professional qualification.
- Several years of professional experience, ideally with leadership responsibility.
- Independent, reliable and organised way of working.
- High social competence and enjoyment in working with people.
- Flexibility regarding working hours, especially on weekends and church holidays.
- Good German and French skills (Italian and Spanish are a plus).
- Identification with the values and mission of the Catholic Church.
- Knowledge of the religious rites and ceremonies of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Knowledge in building maintenance and administration.
- IT user skills.
