EPFL has major challenges regarding the management of System X, and the IT Department (DSI) is responsible for implementing the digital transformation of EPFL. These missions include a combination of direct responsibilities and the implementation and management of EPFL's master plan, business processes, security, management of central infrastructures, core business management, as well as collaboration with the services of the Faculty. VPO-SI is looking for a system specialist to strengthen its team. At DSI, this person will help implement the Business Intelligence of EPFL. Under the supervision of the unit head BI, he/she will participate in the development of solutions, project follow-up, and support. The main missions focus on:• The development and management of the Data Warehouse (SAP BW/4 HANA),• The creation of reports and dashboards using Tableau,• The establishment of data extraction and transformation processes (ETL).The specialist analyzes, configures, and develops software components based on specifications and functional requirements while applying current standards and best practices. He/she contributes to the digital transformation of EPFL in an innovative and quality-oriented environment. You play a key role in the management and governance of institutional data. As a true architect of data flows, you ensure the quality, availability, and consistency of our ecosystem to support the needs of EPFL. Main tasks and responsibilities:Data Design and Analysis• Analyze business needs regarding reporting and analysis.• Identify and qualify various data sources (ERP SAP, CRM, X, Excel files, etc.).• Organize, synthesize, and structure institutional data (academic, etc.).• Design data warehouses (Warehouse) and technical development (SAP BW/4HANA).• Implement data flows.• Create or adapt BEx queries exposed to Tableau.• Develop CDS views or Open ODS Views if necessary.• Manage data access rights.• Create BW/4HANA objects.• Implement intelligent mechanisms (event detection, change management).• Define ETL flows from SAP S/4HANA or third-party systems.Support, Maintenance, and Incident Management• Manage loading or performance incidents in BW.• Document technical processes and data flows.• Optimize query response times for reporting and dashboard tools (Tableau, Analysis for Office).• Design dashboards in Tableau from BW/4HANA views (BEx or CDS).• Ensure alignment of dashboards with business needs (Finance, HR, Academic, etc.).• Create interactive and user-friendly dashboards based on good UX practices.• Manage connections to SAP BW/4HANA sources in Tableau.• Collaborate with end users to iterate on dashboards.• Integrate data governance rules into generated reports.Training and Supporting End Users• Train end users in data usage and reporting tools.• Provide local support and anticipate evolving needs.• Document solutions, processes, and best practices for BI and DWH projects.• Participate in digital transformation projects (e.g., transitioning to BW/4 HANA, new flows).• Contribute to all phases of projects.• Organize regression tests, validate test scenarios, and ensure that stakeholders are informed.• Ensure that functionalities are implemented and accessible to the entire team.• Follow or apply project methodology according to EPFL standards for technological conduct and best practices.• Stay updated on new features in SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Business Cloud, Tableau Cloud.• Propose innovative solutions to enhance self-service data use.• Contribute to upskilling the business team through various tasks:• Provide backup for a colleague if needed.Qualifications:• Degree in X (HES, University, or EPF) or equivalent in management.• Minimum of 5 years of experience in implementing and developing Business Intelligence solutions on SAP BW or BW4/HANA.• Experience in data modeling, ETL flows, and data loading, views, and table functions in HANA.• Good knowledge of reporting tools: Tableau, SAP Business Objects. SAP Analytics Cloud is a plus.• Good knowledge of ABAP, SQL, and Python programming languages.• Knowledge of ERP environments - SAP ECC / S/4HANA, extractors, and embedded analytics SAP S/4 - CDS Views: a real plus.• Knowledge of Airflow is an advantage.• Knowledge of Agile methodology, Scrum framework.• Knowledge of Git or other versioning tools is a plus.• Languages: French (C1) and excellent knowledge of English (minimum B1/B2), German is a plus.Personal skills:• Sense of autonomy and ability to work in a team in a client-oriented environment, synthesis mindset, rigor in work.• Desire to build, improve and innovate within an institution.
