Azure Data Architect - Microsoft Fabric | Remote EU | 6 Months + Extensions We are looking for an experienced Azure Data Architect / Solution Architect with strong Microsoft Fabric expertise to join a large-scale data and analytics programme. The key focus of this role is Microsoft Fabric, Eventhouse and Real-Time Intelligence (RTI), alongside strong hands-on Azure Databricks and modern data engineering experience. You will work across architecture, technical delivery and stakeholder engagement, helping design and implement scalable data platforms and modernise existing Azure data workloads into Microsoft Fabric. Key Responsibilities Lead the architecture and implementation of advanced analytics and data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks. Design solutions across Fabric Pipelines, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Eventhouse and Real-Time Intelligence. Support migration of existing workloads such as Azure Synapse, Databricks and Data Marts into Microsoft Fabric. Work closely with senior business stakeholders, technical teams and other IT functions to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions. Lead the development of data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Azure Databricks, PySpark and Azure Data Factory. Integrate Databricks with ADLS Gen2, Azure Synapse, ADF, Power BI and on-premise systems. Provide architectural and technical leadership to data engineering teams. Ensure solutions meet standards around security, governance, data quality, scalability and performance. Document architectures, processes, data flows and technical decisions. Troubleshoot and optimise high-volume data pipelines and SQL workloads. Promote modern CI/CD, Git and cloud-native engineering practices. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to data engineers. Essential Experience 6+ years' experience as a Solution/Data Architect delivering large-scale Azure data platforms. 8+ years of Azure engineering/data engineering experience. Strong hands-on Azure Databricks experience. Strong Microsoft Fabric project experience. Direct hands-on experience with Fabric Eventhouse and Real-Time Intelligence (RTI) - this is a key requirement. Experience with Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse and Pipelines. Experience migrating or modernising existing Synapse, Databricks or Data Mart workloads into Fabric. Strong PySpark, Spark and Delta Lake experience. Strong SQL development and performance tuning capability. Strong experience with Azure Data Factory and ADLS Gen2. Experience with Delta tables, Auto Loader and Delta Live Tables. Experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes and data warehouse solutions. Experience integrating Databricks with Synapse, ADLS Gen2 and Power BI. Strong understanding of cloud security, governance, access control and data quality. Experience with CI/CD and Git. Strong client-facing and stakeholder management experience. Ability to explain complex technical concepts to senior non-technical stakeholders. Microsoft Fabric Focus The strongest candidates will have genuine hands-on experience with: Microsoft Fabric Eventhouse Real-Time Intelligence (RTI) Fabric Data Pipelines Fabric Lakehouse Fabric Warehouse Real-time data ingestion and analytics Migration of existing Azure data workloads into Fabric Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700) is highly desirable, particularly where backed up by practical project experience. Nice to Have Power BI development and optimisation. Spark Streaming / real-time streaming. NoSQL technologies. Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates. Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Hadoop. Experience with enterprise-scale data platforms. Experience working with German enterprise clients.
