As part of the retirement of the current head, the School of Engineering of HES-SO Valais-Wallis is announcing the position for its research institute in Life Sciences: Head of the Institute of Research in Life Sciences ( %)Your missions: - Actively participate, as a member of the Management of the School, in defining and implementing the academic and institutional strategy of the School of Engineering. - Lead the research and development of the institute in line with the academic objectives of the School, the program director, and the needs of the field. - Ensure the academic, financial, and operational leadership of the institute. - Develop and strengthen partnerships with industry, academic, and political partners at regional, national, and international levels and support the teams (85 people) in the development of applied research projects and in promoting scientific visibility and excellence in the research activities of the School of Engineering. - Guarantee, with the program director, a link between research and teaching activities in your area of expertise. Your profile in the field of life sciences: - Proven experience in scientific and academic research. - Ability to define and carry a medium and long-term vision while anticipating developments in the field of life sciences. - Leadership skills and the ability to bring teams together, communicate effectively, and make decisions. - Very good knowledge of the industrial and institutional fabric at regional, national, and international levels in the field of life sciences; professional experience in an industrial environment is an asset. - Understanding of research financing systems and associated reporting requirements. - Knowledge of the higher education landscape in Switzerland and experience in tertiary teaching is desired. - Native German or French with very good knowledge of the other language, as well as good English skills.
