Description

La Tour Hospital is one of the leading private healthcare institutions in French-speaking Switzerland, renowned for the excellence of its care and its demanding yet humane working environment. Located in Meyrin, on the doorstep of Geneva, it benefits from a unique strategic position: a reference centre for the right bank of Geneva, international organisations, and neighbouring France.

As part of its development, the Medical Emergency Department is recruiting two senior emergency physicians to join a structured, caring team committed to quality care.

Senior Emergency Physician

Recognised by the Swiss Society of Emergency and Rescue Medicine (SSMUS) and a member of the Geneva Emergency Network (RUG), our department provides comprehensive care, 24/7, 365 days a year:

  • Over 33,000 annual visits, with varied and sustained medical activity.
  • An emergency ambulatory unit and an inpatient pathway (life-threatening emergencies and semi-urgent cases).
  • A short-stay observation unit (UOCD), equivalent to the French UHCD.
  • A post-emergency consultation unit for close patient follow-up.
  • Direct access to hospital specialists, without delay and in a spirit of collaboration.

What you will do

As a senior physician, you will practise with genuine clinical autonomy while actively contributing to the life of the department:

  • Managing adult patients across the full range of medical and surgical emergencies, from life-threatening emergencies to unscheduled consultations.
  • Clinical supervision of assistant and junior doctors: mentoring, validating decisions, and daily knowledge transfer.
  • Participating in the continuous improvement of protocols and departmental practices.
  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration with nursing teams and hospital specialists.

The profile we are looking for

We are recruiting both an experienced emergency physician wishing to leave the public hospital for a more serene environment, and an ambitious young specialist ready to build their career in an environment of excellence. What matters to us:

  • Medical degree obtained in an EU member country, eligible for MEBEKO recognition.
  • Specialist qualification in emergency medicine: DES, DESC, European certificate in emergency medicine, Swiss SSMUS training or recognised equivalent European qualification.
  • Significant experience in a high-volume emergency department: minimum 5 years in an ED or equivalent position as chief resident.
  • Fluent French is essential; it is the working and daily communication language.
  • Ability to manage emergencies with autonomy, discernment, and team spirit.
  • Sincere interest in clinical supervision and training of junior doctors.

What we offer you

Organisation and working conditions

  • Full-time salaried position (100%), within the Swiss legal framework.
  • 40 hours per week, with mixed shifts (8-hour and 12-hour blocks) fairly distributed between days, nights, and weekends.
  • Night shift compensation in accordance with the Swiss Labour Law (LTr) and Swiss practices.
  • Free parking provided for night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Direct public transport access (bus stop immediately adjacent to the hospital).

Remuneration

Attractive salary conditions, consistent with Swiss standards for senior emergency physicians. Details will be provided during the first interview.

Professional environment and quality of life

  • A human-scale institution where medical autonomy is real and decisions are collegial.
  • An experienced, close-knit, and approachable senior team with a culture of mutual support.
  • Personalised support.
  • Opportunities for skills development in emergency medicine.
