Higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of surface finishing, chemistry, material science or related field. or a related field.
Proven practical experience in the following fields:
Galvanic surface finishing processes of metals.
Chemical analysis of surface finishing baths.
Electrochemical characterisation techniques applied to surface finishing methods.
Industrial experience or equivalent experience in research laboratory would be an advantage.
Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes would be an advantage.
Knowledge and application of chemical and electro-chemical analysis
Knowledge of chemical and electrochemical surface finishing techniques.
Knowledge of physico-chemical properties of materials and characterization methods.
Knowledge of inorganic and organic materials.

The Vacuum, Surfaces and Coatings Group is responsible for all high and ultra-high vacuum systems for the CERN accelerators. The Surface Coatings and Chemistry section (SCC) takes care of surface and chemical analyses, thin film coatings by PVD and surface finishing.
Within the VSC Group of the TE Department, you will:
Operate technical equipment and instrumentation for surface finishing, including precision cleaning, plating, metal etching, electropolishing on prototypes and series components.
Participate in assembly and maintenance work of technical equipment for surface and wastewater treatments.
Monitor the quality of surface finishing treatments during each stage of the processes and write the associated technical documentation.
Participate in the development and implementation of new surface finishing processes for prototype and series production.
Gather surface finishing requirements from customers and assess solutions.
