Job description:
Design and develop high\-performance Java backend services for mission\-critical financial applications
Build scalable and resilient solutions using Java, , and Boot
Work with distributed systems, microservices, messaging, and event\-driven architectures
Integrate internal platforms and third\-party services while ensuring performance, reliability, and data integrity
Contribute to code quality, testing, CI/CD, and production stability
Collaborate with international teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
About the customer:
We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer / Distributed Systems Engineer to join a highly professional technology team within a leading financial services environment in Zurich.
The position is suited to a hands\-on senior engineer who is comfortable taking end\-to\-end ownership of complex backend systems — from architecture and development through deployment, production support, performance optimisation, and continuous improvement.
Assignement Details:
Workload: 100%
Start: ASAP
Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension
Location: Zurich with up to two day homeoffice
Requirements:
Strong hands\-on experience with Java, , and Boot
Good understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event\-driven architectures
Experience with JPA, JDBC, relational databases, and messaging technologies such as JMS
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud environments, preferably Azure
Comfortable working with Unix/Linux and modern software engineering practices
Knowledge of OAuth2 and API security concepts
Strong ownership mindset with a focus on quality, performance, and reliability
Fluent English and comfortable working in international teams
Previous experience in financial services is considered a plus
