Scientific Media Editor (80%)Eawag is the aquatic research institute of the ETH Domain. It conducts research, is committed to education, and provides expert advice. It therefore pursues two parallel objectives: covering the direct water needs of society and preserving the functionality and sustainability of aquatic ecosystems. To complete the communications team at Eawag, we are looking for a motivated person for the position of Scientific Media Editor (80%) starting September 1st or by agreement.In this varied and responsible role, you are the interface between research and the public. You prepare understandable, effective, and multimedia scientific content, with a particular focus on proactive and modern work. You also support the department management in developing relationships with the media and actively participate in the sustainable construction of the institute's image.Responsibilities- Proactive work: design, processing, monitoring, and dissemination of content adapted to target groups (print/digital/multimedia) to the media via appropriate channels.- Management of specific projects and files in agreement with the department management.- Processing and coordination of media requests, acting as a spokesperson if necessary.- Drafting and distribution of press releases and organization of media events.- In-depth knowledge of the Swiss media landscape, including French-speaking Switzerland.- Establishment and development of a media network and active maintenance of contacts.- Monitoring and analysis of media coverage.- Constant and proactive positioning of the department.- Implementation of the communication strategy and assurance of a consistent image in this area.- Advice and support to the management and research departments in the media field.- Support to the directorate and department management in the context of crisis management and issue management.- Proactive and regular exchange with the department in charge of public affairs.- Coordination with media managers of the ETH Domain, related institutions, as well as partners and agencies.- Drafting of messages, articles, and scientific texts for Eawag's communication channels (external/internal, print/digital/multimedia).- Advice to Eawag staff for communication projects and measures, and implementation of department communication projects.- Contribution to projects of other team members and the department management.Ideally, your profile is as follows- University studies, preferably in natural sciences, as well as solid training in journalism.- Professional experience in the field of corporate communications.- In-depth professional experience in media relations, ideally in the university sector or in a public institution.- Experience in dealing with media representatives.- Excellent writing skills and high linguistic competence for explaining complex topics in the environmental field and environmental research.- Experience in crisis communication desired.- Autonomous, structured, and reliable working method, very good analytical and conceptual skills, and experience in project management.- Team spirit and strong social competence, and ability to assert oneself.- Excellent language skills at a bilingual level in French and German as well as a very good command of English.At Eawag, we create a professional environment in which men and women with different experiences, skills, and perspectives can engage and flourish.
