Join our team as a career guidance counsellor!

Are you passionate about career choice issues and motivated to support young people at the end of compulsory schooling? Do you want to help them find their path and build their professional future? This position is for you!

As a guidance counsellor, you will support students at the end of compulsory schooling by conducting career guidance interviews with students in the final years of compulsory education. You will lead workshops and sessions in classes and collaborate with various partners from the school, training, and professional world.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual interviews to support students and adults in their orientation and career choices
  • Provide reliable and up-to-date information on training, professions, and the labour market.
  • Analyse beneficiaries’ profiles, interests, and skills to help them define a realistic project.
  • Administer and interpret tests and orientation assessments to clarify users’ aptitudes, motivations, and potential.
  • Collaborate with education, training, and economic actors to ensure coherent follow-up of pathways.
  • Maintain continuous professional development to keep knowledge up to date and improve practices.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science (MSc) in psychology, specialising in counselling and guidance, or specialised training in career, university, and professional guidance provided by a university or an institution recognised by SEFRI required.
  • Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in management, human resources, and career management or equivalent training desired.
  • Relevant professional experience
  • Good knowledge of the regional economic fabric
  • Good knowledge of the Vaud education system
  • Basic user-level IT skills required
  • Driving licence necessary

The Directorate General for Post-Compulsory Education (DGEP) oversees training between the end of compulsory education and higher education, including vocational training and gymnasial education. The Cantonal Office for School and Career Guidance (OCOSP), which aims to promote professional integration and employability for anyone facing training choices, is also attached to it, along with a range of services for young people in transition or who are non-native speakers. Its goal is to open the doors to a personal and professional project for everyone, leading the greatest number to a recognised post-compulsory qualification.
