With more than 13,000 employees representing 160 professions, the Geneva University Hospitals are a nationally and internationally recognised institution. To learn more about our institution, take a few minutes to watch our 2024 retrospective by clicking here.
With nearly 1,200 employees, the Department of Acute Medicine (DMA) includes the departments of anaesthesiology, clinical pharmacology and toxicology, intensive care, and emergency services. It fulfils a fourfold mission through its departments, which provide their expertise in frequent interaction with the entire Geneva University Hospitals, thanks to a transversal platform, with the aim of ensuring the best possible patient care.
The clinical pharmacology and toxicology department guarantees and promotes, through clinical practice and the training of health professionals, the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of drug therapy. Personalised prescribing is a key focus of the department, particularly for vulnerable patients (children, elderly, psychiatric patients). The department is the regional reference centre for pharmacovigilance. It also provides recognised multidisciplinary care in the field of pain management. In all these areas, the department offers excellent teaching and research.
Your role alternates between the various clinical pharmacology and toxicology consultations, namely the therapeutic and toxicological information centre consultation, the pharmacogenomics and personalised therapies consultation, and the gerontopharmacology and/or psychopharmacology consultation.
The primary objective is to improve the management of complex drug treatments in at-risk patients and to personalise treatments (polypharmacy, drug interactions, adaptation to renal or hepatic function, adherence). You will also participate in the various activities of the department.
You will work as a consultant for hospitalised patients as well as in outpatient clinical pharmacology and toxicology.
Qualifications
You hold a Swiss federal medical diploma or have training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission (MEBEKO).
Clinical experience is an asset for joining our clinical pharmacology and toxicology positions, particularly in general internal medicine or a medical specialty.
For non-French speakers, a European C1 level in French is mandatory.
Your excellent communication skills enable you to interact within a multidisciplinary team and with patients. You are autonomous, flexible, and committed.
