Project Manager for the Vice-Presidency for Human Development


Mission

Join the Vice-Presidency for Human Development (VPH) at EPFL and become a key support to the management on its most strategic matters. At the crossroads of analysis, coordination, and advice, you prepare and monitor key dossiers that feed decision-making and advance the VPH's priority projects.

This is a role for someone who enjoys understanding complex issues, distilling the essentials, and transforming analysis into clear recommendations — with rigour, discretion, and a results-oriented approach.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Strategic analysis and decision preparation

  • Analyse dossiers, reports, and strategic studies related to human and organisational issues.
  • Produce executive summaries highlighting findings, risks, challenges, and decision options.
  • Prepare dossiers for management, ensuring the quality, relevance, and reliability of analyses.
  • Develop summary notes, presentations, and decision-making materials tailored to management's needs.
  • Contribute to strategic thinking by proposing improvement avenues and recommendations.

Management and monitoring of cross-cutting dossiers

  • Ensure follow-up of strategic dossiers and action plans entrusted by the VPH management.
  • Coordinate contributions from various stakeholders and facilitate exchanges among the concerned actors.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring and management tools.
  • Identify risks and bottlenecks, and propose anticipation or corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines, commitments, and deliverables.
Profile
  • University degree (Bachelor or Master) in public administration, human resources, management, political science, law, economics, international relations, or an equivalent field. Additional training in project management or management is an asset.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in analysis, project management, or consulting roles, ideally with experience preparing decision-making dossiers for management bodies.
  • Knowledge of the public or parapublic sector is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis skills: understand complex issues, identify key challenges, and formulate clear and pragmatic recommendations.
  • Advisory and decision-support skills: produce reliable analyses, put different options into perspective, and support management in its choices.
  • Strong organisational and priority management skills, with autonomy and proactivity in handling multiple dossiers simultaneously.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and engage interlocutors without hierarchical links, building trustful relationships.
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, with communication adapted to diverse audiences, in French and English.
  • Discretion, sense of responsibility, and confidential handling of sensitive information.
