To strengthen our Risk, Actuarial and Reinsurance Department, we are looking for a Master’s student intern for a period of 4 to 6 months starting July 2026 in Lausanne.

The tasks awaiting you:

• Take charge of the Databricks environment (Python/Spark notebooks, SQL) and best development and versioning practices (Git) for actuarial needs
• Contribute to the migration of existing Access databases and VBA code to more robust, traceable and documented Databricks pipelines
• Participate in the modelling and implementation of data flows (ingestion, transformation, quality control) necessary for various actuarial processes
• Develop, test and document Python notebooks and scripts addressing concrete use cases (recurring calculations, experience analyses, ad hoc reporting)
• Work closely with life actuaries, the Data/IT/AI team and, where appropriate, external partners to align technical solutions with business needs
• Depending on the student’s interest, define a dissertation/thesis topic related to the project (for example: industrialisation of a calculation process, target Databricks architecture for an actuarial use case, or targeted use of AI methods on life insurance data)

Your profile:

• You are currently enrolled in an academic programme at UNIL, EPFL or equivalent (Master’s in mathematics, actuarial science, data science/engineering, quantitative finance)
• You have a strong interest in the financial sector (insurance, banking) and data/AI topics
• You have programming skills, particularly in Python/Spark and SQL
• You have a certain curiosity for Cloud/Databricks architectures
• You are fluent in French and English.

You are also comfortable with teamwork and have good communication skills.
