Job Description

The Legal Support Unit of the Directorate General for Childhood and Youth (DGEJ), composed of 8 people, is seeking a legal officer for a six-month replacement.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the drafting of administrative decisions as well as the drafting of judicial procedural documents related to the service's activities;
  • Provide legal support and advice to the service's collaborators in their areas of activity (protection, prevention, supervision, adoption);
  • Contribute to the development of a legal reference documentation and monitor the evolution of legislation, doctrine, and case law to ensure the consistency of legal options taken by the management;
  • Occasionally ensure a physical presence in the different sectors of the service, particularly during professional conferences to provide legal exchange and perspective on the cases handled;
  • Contribute to the drafting of bills and legal adaptations as well as responses to cantonal and federal consultations and parliamentary interventions;
  • Participate in the activities of the International Measures Unit of the service, in situations of international protection measures for minors according to the 1996 Hague Convention and international child abduction cases according to the 1980 Hague Convention;
  • Analyse the content of extract 2 of criminal records for the management and staff of residential institutions, staff of camps longer than 7 days, foster families, and adoption candidates during annual checks and prior to engagement in accordance with the ordinance on child placement.

Qualifications

  • University Master’s degree in law required;
  • Bar certificate, an advantage;
  • Specialisation in family law or administrative law, as well as professional experience in judicial procedures and practices or in the field of child protection of at least three years;
  • Knowledge of the German language, a plus;
  • Spirit of mutual aid and collaboration;
  • Analytical and synthesis skills;
  • Strong writing skills;
  • Good command of IT tools.
