Recognised as a centre of expertise under the Specialised Education Act, the CPHV promotes the inclusion of people with visual impairments in Romandy. It is part of the Asile des Aveugles Foundation, founded in Lausanne in 1843, which includes the Jules-Gonin Ophthalmic Hospital in Lausanne, the social service and low vision rehabilitation, the vision sciences research centre, and the Clair-Soleil nursing home in Ecublens, a medico-social establishment specially adapted for elderly people with visual impairments.

More than 670 staff members mobilise every day in the service of visual health to provide diagnostic, treatment and support services to people with visual impairments.

To complete our team, we are looking for an

Itinerant Specialised Teacher

Your mission

  • Guarantee and ensure the provision of adapted educational resources from 1st to 11th grade, with the support of a transcription service: magnifications, computer or braille documents. Encourage and promote the use of these resources
  • Work closely with class teachers
  • Keep a logbook and prepare an annual report for each pupil
  • Participate in the network involving professionals from mainstream schools and various specialists (occupational therapists, mobility re-educators, daily living activities and functional vision, ophthalmologists, etc.)
  • Coaching and support for teachers

Your assets

  • Master’s degree in specialised education (obtained or in progress); obtaining the Master’s is mandatory for practising this profession.
  • Initial teacher training (HEP), specialised educator (HES) or Master’s in education or psychology, followed by additional training leading to the specialised education diploma (recognised by the Conference of Directors of Public Instruction – CDIP) while employed at HEP
  • Willingness to develop and keep up to date the specific professional knowledge and skills necessary for your role through continuing education
  • Comfort with common IT tools 
  • Organisational skills and flexibility, ability to work independently 
  • Sense of responsibility and ability to manage complex situations
  • Enjoy working with professionals from diverse backgrounds
  • Professional ethics
  • Mother tongue: French
  • Good knowledge of compulsory school subjects
