THE GENEVA LIBRARY (BGE) is a service of the Department of Culture and Digital Transition. Founded in the 16th century, in charge of the cantonal legal deposit, it possesses the oldest and most important collection in French-speaking Switzerland, composed in particular of manuscripts, books, maps, posters, scores, photographs, and archives - important for the university community and the general public of the region. The collections of the Geneva Library are distributed across sites located at the Bastions, the Iconography Center, La Musicale, and the BGE participates in a large-scale cross-functional project for the digitization of municipal collections led by the Department of Culture and Digital Transition (DCTN) and alongside other cultural institutions of the City as well as support services. In order to contribute to the deployment of the project, we are looking for a Documentary Specialist on a fixed-term contract at 80% - 12 months.Your mission and responsibilities:- Take part in all work related to the management of a documentary service within the framework of the project for the digitization of the collections of the City of Geneva;- Update and manage the collections selected for digitization, inventory, and index documents on all types of media, ensuring the consistency of metadata;- Guarantee the storage and physical management of the collections before, during, and after the digitization operations;- Perform documentary research necessary for the identification and description of the collections;- Take part in digitization operations and ensure the coordination of documentary activities with the various project stakeholders, including external ones;- Perform corrections and updates in inventory files;- Participate, at the request of management, in working groups established within the framework of the project;- Write in a concise and structured manner after analysis and synthesis of the homogeneous data collected (e.g., production reports and reporting requested by management);- Organize and distribute documents according to the rules of classification and digitization defined;- Ensure active monitoring to present updated choices in a specific field;- Perform specialized research on a subject and identify the diversity of media to guarantee complete research.Profile:- Hold a Bachelor's degree in information science or an equivalent qualification.- Justify at least 3 years of professional experience in the field of documentary management and mastery of the principles of documentary management, digitization, and research.- Be comfortable with standard tools as well as specialized software in the documentary field, and possess excellent analytical, synthesis, and writing skills.- Be interested in technological developments and demonstrate rigor in the exercise of the activity.- Demonstrate a strong capacity for research, monitoring, and analysis of documentary content.- Be able to communicate with ease to varied audiences and interlocutors.- Appreciate teamwork while being capable of working autonomously.Why join us?By joining the Geneva Library, you contribute to the influence of one of the major cultural institutions of the region, actively engaged in architectural, digital, and technical projects of scale.Conditions and terms of employment:- Start date: December- Class F of the salary scale to be found on our websiteApplication file:The application file must contain the following elements:- Cover letter;- Curriculum vitae;- Copy of diplomas and work certificates.In its desire to fight against unemployment, the city encourages applications from people coming from the cantonal employment office.Applications must be submitted only via the online portal.For the City of Geneva, the recruitment process is decentralized.
