This role is designed to provide an adult presence in the House and to collaborate with Houseparents (HPs) in safeguarding and ensuring the welfare and security of students. The House Assistant will share responsibilities in supervising students and maintaining their living environment.
The key tasks include being responsive to student needs, demonstrating good sense with young individuals, and having effective interpersonal skills with both students and their families. The successful candidate should exhibit qualities such as reliability, warmth, flexibility, and a sense of humor. Physical fitness and good stamina are also necessary for this position. Responsibilities will vary depending on whether the Assistant is working in a junior or senior house.
The typical working schedule is from Monday to Friday, with hours from 07:00 to 12:00 for four days, and from 07:00 to 13:30 on one day. Flexibility may be required based on team commitments.
The House Assistant will have to: be available during specified hours, provide emotional and physical care for the students, work collaboratively with the HP, RAHP, and other house staff, and coordinate with Health Centre, Estates, and Cleaning departments to ensure smooth operations.
General duties include monitoring student attendance, ensuring room tidiness, assisting with uniform compliance, managing house administration, and overseeing student medication administration to align with prescription protocols.
It is essential for the post holder to follow school safeguarding policies and maintain a professional relationship with students. The position may also include additional tasks as directed by the Director of Boarding.
