The Parks and Gardens section includes a head gardener, two deputies, and around forty permanent collaborators, including apprentices. It is responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of parks, green spaces, streets and squares, municipal flower displays, horticultural production, management of playgrounds, street furniture and fountains, as well as the maintenance of emblematic sites such as Montorge, Valère, and Tourbillon.

Horticulturist-Landscaper

Responsible for the Creation Sector M/F

80-100% workload

within the Urban Planning and Mobility department, Parks and Gardens section.

Main missions

Within the creation sector, you actively participate in the realisation and development of the City of Sion’s outdoor facilities. You ensure the organisation and monitoring of the projects entrusted to you, from planning to completion.

In this capacity, you participate in:

• the planning, coordination, and execution of landscaping projects, playgrounds, and public spaces;
• the organisation of human, material, and logistical resources necessary for the proper conduct of the work;
• the supervision and support of teams assigned to the projects.

Furthermore, you:

• ensure compliance with deadlines, quality of execution, and safety regulations;
• collaborate with various internal and external partners (architects, engineers, and specialised companies);
• participate in the training of apprentices and the development of the team’s skills;
• contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the creation sector.

Employment conditions

• Federal Certificate of Competence (CFC) as horticulturist-landscaper or equivalent experience;
• proven experience in landscape creation work;
• excellent knowledge of plants and good proficiency in reading plans;
• ability to lead and coordinate a small team;
• organisational skills, autonomy, and initiative;
• ease in interpersonal relations and teamwork;
• good computer skills;
• category B driving licence essential;
• BE licence, R1 forklift licence, or M2 machine operator licence are assets;
• good physical condition.

Salary

According to the City of Sion’s personnel regulations and the Municipality’s salary scale.
