Description
The Catholic Church of Biel is a vibrant place of encounter, faith and community. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed, responsible person who cares about serving the community to fill the position of head sacristan.
Head Sacristan 80-100% (m/f)
Your duties:
- Overall responsibility for the sacristy service, preparation of Masses and religious celebrations.
- Management, planning and coordination of the sacristans’ and cleaning staff’s activities across the entire Parish at several sites.
- Employee evaluations, job descriptions, staff development.
- Preparation and accompaniment of baptisms, weddings, funerals and special liturgical events.
- Participation in parish festivals and events.
- Close collaboration with Pastoral care, administration and volunteers.
- Maintenance, upkeep and provision of liturgical equipment, vestments and church premises.
Responsibility for the operation, cleaning and maintenance of all churches, centres and administrative buildings.
Qualifications:
- Complete sacristan training or willingness to undertake the corresponding training. Professional diploma.
- Several years of professional experience, ideally with personnel management responsibilities.
- Autonomy, reliability and organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a taste for teamwork.
- Flexibility regarding working hours, especially weekends and religious public holidays.
- Good knowledge of German and French (knowledge of Italian and Spanish is an advantage).
- Commitment to the values and mission of the Catholic Church.
- Knowledge of the rites and religious ceremonies of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Knowledge of building maintenance and management.
- User-level IT skills.
