You manage the LS of the DIJ professionally, organisationally and in terms of personnel, and coordinate all translation and revision work. In this role, you translate from German into French and revise complex texts of a political, technical, legislative or administrative nature from the various offices and services of the DIJ, thus making a significant contribution to the multilingual communication of the Bern cantonal administration.

Your tasks

  • Leading the LS composed of five colleagues, supporting and supervising LS members
  • Managing, distributing and implementing language mandates, allocating human and financial resources, monitoring budget compliance, awarding contracts to external parties, negotiating deadlines with clients, occasional terminological contributions
  • Knowledge management, organising the LS-wide reflection on linguistic and editorial conventions, monitoring developments in the profession and technologies in the linguistic field

Your profile

  • University degree (MA) in translation
  • Continuing education (keeping up with professional developments)
  • Several years of experience in German-French translation
  • Organisational skills
  • Proficiency with digital translation tools
  • German: excellent comprehension, fluency in both oral and written expression. Good understanding of Swiss German is an advantage.
  • French: perfect command, excellent writing skills
  • Other languages: knowledge of other national languages and English is an asset.
