Key Responsibilities
- Teach French to students at GCSE and A Level, following the relevant Pearson Edexcel curriculum.
- Develop and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that foster students’ linguistic competence and appreciation of French language and culture.
- Prepare students thoroughly for internal assessments and public examinations, ensuring high academic standards and measurable progress.
- Contribute to the planning, development, and review of the French curriculum within the Modern Languages Department.
- Provide regular feedback, reports, and assessments to students and parents, supporting each learner’s academic and personal growth.
- Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings, professional development, and collaborative projects.
- Promote a positive learning environment that reflects the values and ethos of the British School of Geneva.
- Support school events, trips, and extracurricular activities related to French language and culture.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in French, Modern Languages, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- Proven experience teaching French at GCSE and A Level (or equivalent secondary level).
- Strong knowledge of British curriculum assessment objectives and examination requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Commitment to inclusive education and differentiation to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- High level of fluency in French (native or near-native proficiency) and strong command of English.
- Experience in an international or multicultural school environment is an advantage.
- Assess and monitor student learning and progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
- A proven facility with using relevant Information technology and complying with in-house systems of recordkeeping.
- A proven ability to provide additional contribution to student experience beyond the mainstream curriculum.
- A 10 Year Personal Background Police Clearance record (to include International child protection certificate or equivalent).
- 2 written references from Referees.
- A current Work Permit to work in Switzerland.
