What we will achieve together

The Engineering Solutions and Projects activity offers innovative engineering solutions for the renewal and development of SIG networks and facilities as well as new services related to the City, Districts and Smart Buildings in a multi-fluid and smart approach. It manages SIG or external engineering projects by ensuring deadlines, costs, quality and risk management throughout the project.

As an electrotechnical engineer (Fixed-term Contract First Job), you will be responsible for the design / studies (preliminary and detailed) of part of the electrical installations and/or the monitoring of the corresponding construction works for infrastructure projects related to transport, electricity distribution or high-power electricity production (HV/MV transformer substations, hydroelectric power plants ...)

As an electrotechnical engineer (Fixed-term Contract First Job), your main tasks will be as follows:

  • Carry out all or part of the preliminary studies of the project;
  • Perform detailed study phase sizing and detailed technical definition of the various equipment as well as the corresponding general estimate, tender documents for companies and analysis of offers from consulted companies. Prepare various authorisation requests for the supervisory and control bodies of electrical installations;
  • Ensure the management and monitoring of works, coordination of different companies and acceptance of completed works;
  • Write reports and documents necessary for investment decisions, specifications based on your expertise, prepare tender dossiers and evaluate technical solutions;
  • Monitor companies and suppliers to control the proper execution of services performed;
  • Coordinate the project team, interact with internal stakeholders (Finance, Communication and Legal) and external ones (for example: partners, authorities);
  • Ensure project and corresponding risk management to guarantee costs, quality and deadlines of the project;
  • Take charge of the administrative, financial and technical management of the projects entrusted to you.

Your personality and skills

With excellent theoretical knowledge of electrical engineering for high-power electricity distribution and production installations (HV/MV transformer substations and/or hydroelectric productions), you are also familiar with common and dedicated IT tools (electrical sizing software, project management…). You have the taste and skills to manage the construction works of the electrical installations you have designed in studies. Creative, you demonstrate initiative, method, team spirit and adaptability. You know how to negotiate, convince and communicate well.

* SIG regularly welcomes recent graduates to offer them a significant first professional experience within the framework of a fixed one-year contract. The term "recent graduates" refers to persons who have completed their studies within the last 18 months, seeking a first professional experience related to their academic background.

Your academic background:

  • You have just obtained your master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EPFL or HES or any other diploma deemed equivalent);
  • Familiarity with Swiss professional standards and regulations (IEC, OICF, etc.), international standards, electrical safety, occupational safety (SUVA) is a strong asset;
  • Comfortable in English (reading, writing, speaking), knowledge of German is an advantage.
