Oryx Energies is one of the largest and longest-established independent suppliers of oil and gas products and services in sub-Saharan Africa. We purchase, store, and distribute petroleum and gas products that meet the needs of individuals, businesses, and industrial and maritime stakeholders in the region.
The ESG Data Analyst Intern supports the ESG Manager in the collection, consolidation, analysis, and reporting of ESG data across the Group. The role is critical to ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and traceability for internal monitoring, ESG Committee reporting, and external disclosures in line with applicable reporting frameworks and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
1. ESG Data Collection & Management
Coordinate the collection of ESG data from countries, business lines, and functions (environmental, social, governance indicators).
Build and maintain and update ESG datasets, dashboards, and tracking tools ( , Excel, Power BI or equivalent).
Ensure data quality, consistency, and documentation of methodologies and assumptions.
Support harmonization of ESG indicators and definitions across the Group.
2. ESG Reporting & Analytics
Support the preparation of ESG reports, KPIs, and performance analyses for internal management, ESG Committee, and external stakeholders.
Contribute to annual ESG / sustainability reporting processes, including data validation and audit readiness.
Perform trend analysis, peer benchmarking, and ad-hoc ESG analytics to support decision-making.
Assist in aligning ESG data with recognized frameworks and standards ( GRI, CSRD/ESRS, TCFD, UN SDGs, ISO).
3. Process Improvement & Controls
Support the development and improvement of internal ESG data collection processes and controls.
Help prepare documentation for ESG data assurance and respond to auditor or consultant queries.
Monitor data gaps, inconsistencies, and risks, and propose corrective actions.
4. Support to ESG Initiatives
Support measurement and reporting of ESG initiatives and transition projects ( solarization, Clean Cooking, carbon credit-related projects).
Assist ESG Manager in preparing presentations, briefing materials, and analytical inputs for management and external engagements.
Liaise with ESG Ambassadors and focal points to ensure timely and accurate data submission.
5. Performs additional duties as required.

External (as needed): Consultants and auditors supporting ESG work.

Profile & Skills Required:
Degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, data analytics, finance, engineering, or a related field.
1–2years of experience in ESG/Sustainability data, sustainability reporting, audit, or related analytical roles.
Understanding of ESG concepts and reporting principles; familiarity with GRI, CSRD/ESRS, TCFD is an asset.
Quantitative analytical skills and strong proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI or similar tools is a plus.
High attention to detail, structured approach, and ability to manage multiple datasets and deadlines.
Strong communication skills and ability to work across cultures and functions.
Fluency in both English and French is mandatory.
