Founded in 1535 in Geneva, our institution supports people who, at a moment in their lives, need assistance for the necessary time to (re)find sustainable autonomy. We promote the social and professional reintegration of people receiving social assistance, we welcome and accommodate asylum seekers whom we support in their integration process. Finally, we participate in the fight against the isolation of seniors.
We are more than 1,600 employees spread over 60 sites throughout the canton. We support more than 40,000 people.

Job DescriptionYour mission
The manager ensures, through their unit, a quality welcome allowing migrants to quickly orient themselves in their new environment. They promote their rapid, sustainable and participative integration within the Geneva community, in coordination with internal and external partners of Hospice général. They also work on developing living together, strengthening social cohesion and promoting harmonious, respectful and inclusive cohabitation within collective accommodation centres and the neighbourhoods in which they are located.
To this end, the unit:
- Ensures the implementation of processes, systems and infrastructures necessary for welcoming, informing and orienting newcomers;
- Develops interactions, intercultural exchanges and opportunities for encounters between the migrant population and the host society to promote social integration, participation in local life and living together;
- Designs, supports and coordinates actions promoting inclusion, autonomy, civic engagement, empowerment and the development of social ties between residents and their environment;
- Supports beneficiaries in progressively acquiring autonomy in daily life activities and understanding their social, administrative and institutional environment, to encourage their active participation in society;
- Develops and animates a network of local partners (public, private, associative, volunteers, residents, municipalities, cultural and sports institutions, etc.) contributing to integration and social cohesion;
- Encourages residents’ participation in collective life and supports initiatives that strengthen responsibility, mutual respect and a sense of belonging to the community;
- Manages collective life within accommodation centres and prevents, supports or resolves tension or conflict situations through an approach favouring dialogue, mediation and respect for diversity;
- Ensures planning, monitoring and control of the unit’s budget framework, oversees the efficient use of allocated resources and contributes to optimising services in line with institutional objectives;
- Represents the service to political authorities, state services, municipalities and any other entity concerned with issues of welcome, integration and social cohesion.
The manager anticipates and supports the organisational changes necessary to adapt the unit in order to offer services that meet the needs of beneficiaries and the challenges of integration, social participation and living together in the canton. They also guarantee responsible management of human, financial and material resources made available to the unit.
QualificationsYour profile
- You have a university degree (minimum Bachelor) or a HES title and at least 3 years’ experience within Hospice général;
- Dynamic and flexible personality, comfortable in human contact and open-minded;
- You demonstrate good analytical skills and the ability to adopt a broad vision;
- Your sense of diplomacy and capacity for innovation are recognised;
- Your interest in social work in complex environments is proven;
- You have a very good knowledge of legal frameworks and demonstrate administrative rigour;
- You are proficient with common IT tools;
- Knowledge of project management methodology is a plus, and familiarity with the migration sector and Geneva’s associative network is an asset.
