What you can contribute

  • Plan and conduct storage trials using physical methods to combat fungal diseases of fruits and vegetables
  • Evaluate the effect of tested methods on the quality of horticultural products as well as on the development of fungal pathogens
  • Assist in the development of new methods for assessing varietal sensitivity to diseases
  • Analyse data and write reports/scientific articles
  • Support project management in administrative and organisational tasks

What makes you unique

  • Master’s degree in agronomy, biology or equivalent training
  • Knowledge in phytopathology, storage and quality analysis of horticultural products is an asset
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team, flexibility during the fruit harvest and storage period
  • Good communication and organisational skills, as well as proficiency in IT tools, especially statistics
  • Very good knowledge of two official languages and English, both spoken and written

The activities of the Alpine region fruit production research group focus on the development of innovative and sustainable production and storage systems for fruit. The main research themes are (i) the creation of new apricot and pear varieties to improve their resistance to diseases and pests, fruit quality and productivity, (ii) the development of pest and disease control methods to reduce pesticide use, and (iii) the determination of factors influencing fruit quality before and after harvest to reduce the impact of climate change.
