With more than 13,000 employees representing 160 professions, the Geneva University Hospitals are a reference institution at both national and international levels. To learn more about our institution, take a few minutes to consult our 2025 retrospective by clicking here.
Internal medicine is a specialty focused – as its name indicates – on the inside of the body and organs. The parent discipline has given rise, over the last three decades, to multiple disciplines, which have become full specialties for several years and have obtained the same status as internal medicine itself. The specialist brings the latest knowledge of their specialty to the patient, and in university centres is able to develop sophisticated research programmes, either clinical or laboratory-based, which will integrate this knowledge through translational medicine into practice.
Thanks to your interpersonal skills, you welcome, inform and guide patients presenting to the service and manage the telephone calls you receive.
You organise consultations by managing the doctors’ electronic schedules and preparing patient files. After consultations, you independently and promptly type medical reports. If necessary, you schedule additional medical examinations.
While responding to various requests, you successfully and autonomously carry out administrative activities related to your role, such as following up patient files, managing mail and email, and organising holiday schedules.
You demonstrate proactivity in performing logistical tasks arising from the life of a secretariat, such as orders, fee notes, and archiving.
Within the team, you develop a close relationship with your fellow medical secretaries and ensure continuity of service during absences. More generally, your sense of service makes you an agile person ready to use your versatility to serve the institution by working in different departments according to needs.

You hold a Federal VET Diploma as a commercial employee and/or a diploma as a medical secretary, or any equivalent training deemed appropriate.

You possess a good team spirit and have the ability to work in a shared office with several secretaries.
While having a good sense of organisation and priorities, you are autonomous, rigorous and precise in the tasks entrusted to you.
