The Machining Manager oversees all operations of the machining department and ensures efficient production, compliant with quality and safety requirements, as well as optimal use of resources.
He/she manages a broad team of multi-skilled mechanics, plans and coordinates production, while implementing continuous improvement approaches to achieve operational objectives.
The role also includes responsibility for the apprenticeship centre, with full supervision of the training programme for apprentice multi-skilled mechanics over a 4-year cycle.

Your responsibilities
Management of machining processes
- Define and deploy manufacturing strategies for CNC milling and turning activities
- Optimise machine utilisation rates and productive hours
- Ensure a high level of quality and sustainably reduce non-conformities
- Ensure planning and adherence to production deadlines
- Supervise and structure the training programme for apprentice multi-skilled mechanics over 4 years
- Ensure effective organisation of training time
- Support apprentices towards successful Federal VET Diploma (CFC)
- Manage internal trainers and ensure pedagogical quality
- Identify levers for process optimisation and cost reduction
- Implement concrete actions to improve productivity and efficiency
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) Set up dashboards and ensure regular reporting
- Adjust actions based on results and analyses
- Train and support teams in adopting new processes
- Develop, formalise and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the department
- Ensure process compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure adherence to applicable ISO standards and ESG criteria
Job requirements:
Education & experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent training
- Proven experience in a machining environment
- Successful experience in team management
- Strong command of CNC machine programming and operation
- Experience with various machining equipment (milling, turning)
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Access, Word, Visio, PowerPoint)
- Excellent knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC preferred)
- Knowledge of SAP: a major asset
- Strong leadership and ability to unite multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Attention to detail and results orientation
- Very good command of French and English
- Knowledge of German is highly recommended
